Woman in the INS200 jacket

Introducing: The Zhik INS Coastal Range

There's no doubt that Zhik are known for 1 upping on features and seem to always find ways to create innovative sailing gear that Is not only exceptional when it comes to fabric technology and functionality but also looks really stylish and modern.

Zhik’s new 2021 collection has landed, and we are absolutely loving the INS wet weather range. The range was designed with all the top features to make it ideal for racing inshore as well as cruising but with the versatility to suit life on land as well. The range compromises of 2 styles of jackets, plus a pair of salopettes.

Zhik INS100 jacket

Starting off with the Zhik INS100 Jacket, which is the more minimalistic and affordable of the two. The 2-layer design makes it an ideal jacket for inshore and moderate sailing conditions. The men’s jacket comes in black and navy and the women’s jacket comes in platinum and navy.

Key features:

  • The jacket is made up of a 2-layer Vecta fabric technology. This 2-layer Vecta fabric has an outside fully waterproof and windproof, hydrophobic layer to keep you dry. The inside layer is a TPU membrane which is a fabric that maintains its flexibility whilst also being durable and waterproof.
  • Soft mesh lining that maximises airflow. Keeping you cooler in warm conditions and providing a thermal air gap in colder conditions.

  • All seams are fully taped. Each panel of this jacket is taped and critical junctions are further reinforced to ensure waterproofness.

  • Pre-formed cuffs for uninhibited wrist movement. And added protection around the wrist.

  • Low profile chest pocket. A pocket that doesn’t inhibit the aesthetics of the jacket but will keep your necessities protected.

  • DWR coating. Durable water repellent coating helps moisture bead up and stream right off the outside fabric.
  • Zippered side pockets. With taping around the seams and waterproof design.

Zhik INS200 jacket

INS200 provides performance, protection, and comfort on the water or in wild weather, and easily transitions to the street. Now, the main difference between the INS100 and the INS200 is the layer technology. The INS200 has a 3-layer Vecta fabric technology which is normally exclusive to very high-end sailing gear (think offshore/ocean) which is what makes this product so outstanding. Features are maximised without adding excess bulk and therefore retaining a simplified form that moves with the body. The Zhik INS200 men’s jacket comes in black and platinum and the women’s comes in black.

Key features:

  • The jacket is made up of a 3-layer Vecta fabric technology. This 3-layer Vecta fabric has an outside fully waterproof and windproof, hydrophobic layer to keep you dry. It then has a TPU membrane which is a fabric that maintains its flexibility whilst also being durable and waterproof. The inside layer is a breathable tricot mesh layer. This construction is super lightweight and minimizes bulk as an inner lining is not needed.
  • Streamlined hood design. Can be adjusted with the two front and rear pull cords for a customised fit. Inside the hood is a neat internal gusset made from Spandex. This keeps the hood in contact with your forehead, preventing water ingress and wind and makes the hood move with your head. The hood is also an added upgrade when comparing the INS200 to the INS100.

  • Adjustable cuffs with a fused PU lining. To reduce bulk around the wrist, a non-absorbent PU fabric is bonded to the inside of the cuff, which creates an effective seal around the wrist when the outer cuff is tightened with the Velcro adjuster. This is another feature that surpasses the INS100.

  • All seams are fully taped. Each panel of this jacket is taped and critical junctions are further reinforced to ensure waterproofness.
  • DWR coating. Durable water repellent coating helps moisture bead up and stream right off the outside fabric.
  • Darted pockets for maximum utility without bulk. Including an expandable yet minimal chest pocket and an internal pocket for extra protection.

  • Laser cut water drainage. To allow any water that gets in the pocket to escape.

Zhik INS200 Salopettes

Last but certainly not least, the INS200 salopettes have many similar features to the INS200 jacket but in trouser form which has all the features required for high activity coastal and inshore sailing, encased in a streamlined design. The INS200 has been designed to replace and improve on the old Kiama trouser which was one of our best sellers at Wetsuit Outlet.

Key features:

  • The trousers are made up of a 3-layer Vecta fabric technology.
  • Adjustable elastic suspenders provide maximum comfort. Easily set to the perfect fit for days of continuous use.
  • Pre-formed elastic waist. Provides a secure fit without the need for a tightening system.

  • 500D abrasion resistant panelling. In knee, crotch, and rear panels.

  • All seams are fully taped. Each panel of these trousers are taped and critical junctions are further reinforced to ensure waterproofness.
  • DWR coating. Durable water repellent coating helps moisture bead up and stream right off the outside fabric.
  • Double-headed zippered front. With a large gusset for easy internal access and added waterproofness.

  • Adjustable leg openings with ergonomic tightening. That distributes pressure evenly around the ankle.

So if you’re off on your next sailing adventure, whether that be cruising down the coast or inshore racing, the INS is here to suit your every need.
